I usually try to cram everything in the backpack and put the Lee Filters in another small bag. Everything else that can't go in the backpack goes into the big bag. With this line up I'm pretty much covered for all types of photography when I travel.

With the general shape of a pistolgrip, the Pistolgrip mussel (Tritogonia verrucosa) can be easily identified. This Pistol grip was found in the Marais des Cygnes River in Kansas.

Since this gun is not semi-automatic, has no extended magazine, no pistol grip that "protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon", no folding or telescoping stock, no forward pistol grip, no bayonet lug, no threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer, has no capacity to "accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip", nor is it painted BLACK! - it is not an "assault weapon" and therefore it is not dangerous - right?

Several weeks ago, my Dad found the above item at a garage sale for $1. (Yes, one dollar.) It's a Manfrotto 3265 grip action ball head with quick release plate, which retails for $100 (on Amazon) or up to $130 (at Calumet). He wasn't even sure what it was, but decided it was worth more than a dollar because of its weight (1.7 lbs.) and solid construction.
After looking it up and finding out how much it normally sells for, he was pleased with his bargain and gave it to me during our recent trip to Oklahoma.
Unfortunately, it's broken -- squeezing the grip doesn't have any effect on the tightness or looseness of the grip action. I'm hoping I can repair it myself, though I've been warned there are powerful springs inside.
